Born in Wales in the UK, Ian first discovered the supreme joy of rural life and barefoot rugby on the beach when his parents moved to Jersey in the Channel Islands. Perhaps this was to prepare him for his as yet unknown life in New Zealand. Moving across the world in 1987 to live here was a decision he has never regretted.
Following a very successful 30-year career in building, project management and ownership of his own high profile commercial interiors company in Auckland, Ian took stock and realised that his skills in sales and marketing was a perfect fit for real estate. Since obtaining his license in 2010 he has based himself for the most part in the Ray White Papakura office serving the property owners of Karaka, Drury, Ramarama and surrounding districts. He’s spent the last 7 years helping his clients realize their goals in the sale of their properties and introducing city-dwelling buyers into the rural environment.
His recent partnership with friend and colleague, Marcus Hill of Ray White Remuera might at first seem a strange blend of town and country, but there’s a very good reason for it. 85% of Ian’s clients purchasing their rural property come from within the city limits where Marcus is located.
Ian understands the challenges and excitements of moving to the country. In the past he’s lived in the eastern bays of Auckland in Mission Bay, the desirable city fringe suburbs of Parnell, Ponsonby, Grey Lynn and Herne Bay prior to settling on his own 5-acre piece of paradise in Bombay. Occasionally he exchanges his gumboots for bike boots to take his Honda VFR for a spin. Fishing and deer stalking along with his recent love-affair with tennis keep Ian connected to the world outside of real estate.
